Gabby says “Hi.”
She is so excited about the book launch. Her tail held high as she pranced around looking all cute. She even allowed me to give her a scarf for her Gabby Bits Newsletter. She doesn’t like the scarf but knows she needs to look nice.
Gabby had a few sad days when the first launch was canceled. I told her this time all the books are available and everyone is waiting for her to share this post.
However, she is not impressed with my idea of a launch party.
She is a party animal for about five minutes then she needs a nap, a pet, or a stretch. Staying focused is not in her wheelhouse.
Below is our launch party conversation. I will tell you, she is catching on that I give a few bits of behind the scene stuff and she is not happy about it.
As she puts it, I am ruining her image.

Gabby’s thoughts on the launch and party.
Here’s our conversation.
“We’re having a party?” Gabby asked.
“Are you sure, you canceled the last one?”
“Yes, I’m sure. We are all ready to celebrate the launch of the book.” I smiled.
She smiled back. “Oh, you mean everyone will get to see me?”
I stopped smiling.
She kept smiling.
“You do know I wrote the book? I sat in front of this computer for months, pouring my heart and soul into this book.”
” You should give it your all, you are writing about my adventures.”
“No. I wrote about a woman named Kit who takes over the cat cafe’ and you are a part of it.” I stared at her.
She tipped her head. “You know, the cats are the most important part of the book. Daisy, Mr. Nuggy, Trunk, Vee and even what’s his name. And me. They want more Gabby.” That’s what they say.
I pinch my nose.
She stood up a bit taller. “Did you forget it’s about a cat cafe’ and you did give me my own chapters.”
“Yes, I know, you wouldn’t have it any other way,” I said.
“I have my own book too,” she pawed at her new scarf.
I sighed. “Yes, I know that too, I wrote it. We are not talking about that book right now.”
“Fine, we’ll talk about Mr. Buttons later,” she said.
“The launch party is next week.” I smiled.
“Are you going to share pictures of me?”
“Gabby, I hate to tell you, but no one knows about you yet. The book is not published.”
Ignoring me completely.
Gabby fakes snoring. “All of this is so boring. why can’t we have a big party at the cat cafe’? I would like some attention.”
I glance over at her. “And how do you expect people to get into the book to enjoy your party.” (yes I did air quotes)
She sat still for a bit. “This is not how a star should be treated. If I can’t attend my own party, I need something else. Can you get me a catnip plant? Maybe a few treats and a nice dinner?”
“You have plenty of catnip toys, you eat nice dinners all the time. How about a hug and some lap time.”
“I only want Brian’s lap.”
“No one knows who Brian is Gabby. They probably think he is some weird dude.”
“That is rude,” she said.
“No, it’s not. You keep talking about the people and cats in the book like everyone knows who they are. Soon they will, but not yet.”
She twisted around to get comfortable and sat down. This is how she ignores me.
“Gabby. You forgot something,” I said.
“What?”
“The book is being published the day of the party, everyone will be reading all about you.”
She opened her eyes wide. “Finally, my fans will get to meet me. My life as a star ( pause) will begin.”
I smirked “That was a bit dramatic.”
Gabby got up, and padded around the living room. “Just getting ready for the red carpet walk.”
“Around here it will be more like a red mat walk.”
She stopped short then continued walking.
‘You should vacuum my red matt, I think it has cat litter on it. I am a star you know.”
Smiling “Yes, Gabby, I know.”
