I experienced my first author book signing. I am delighted to share my thoughts with you.

There is something about a book signing that changes everything.

When I first wrote my book, I knew I would be signing it, but until you do, it doesn’t feel real.

The whole process of writing, editing, then putting a book out there is exciting and terrifying at the same time. But when you take that pen out to sign a book for someone, something magical happens.

You are handing them a part of your soul…your creativity. Then they give you a smile and you both share a simple connection. So cool.

To go to a bookstore like Barnes & Noble was so surreal. I grew up browsing these stores as a kid. I spent hours reading in the corner or watching other authors sign their books. It felt so full circle for me.

It was now my time to sit in that bookstore. For me, I finally felt like an author.

I was joking around saying I felt like Castle, from the tv show, minus the long lines. I guess it’s still all so new to me. Maybe that is why is so so fun, because I really never imagined I would be doing this. I got to check something big off of my bucket list.

Another thing that was interesting and weird was hearing my pen name being called. I almost ignored the staff once because I’m not used to it.

This really was a great experience. Just seeing my name on the sign made me smile. I also got the luck of getting to sit next to an established author. She was fun to talk to and allowed me to pick her brain.

You can tell her CJ Reynolds sent you.

You are probably wondering how I did.

Well, I didn’t sell much as I would have liked, but then again, I do have high expectations.

It was a warm day in July so the foot traffic was slow. That being said, even if I only sold one book, I would still do it again. The experience solidified me as an author and has given me more motivation to write my second book.

If you haven’t grabbed your copy, or you want a signed copy, you can do so here.

Thanks for reading, CJ AKA Cheryl
